Lip balm rules ok by Natalie Dee
Lips like sugar, so not talking about the single released in 1987 by Echo and The Bunnymen or the Flo-rida one, but yeah, somehow this phrase was stuck in my mind and since its kinda related to this post, tada! It shall be the post title.
Lips, we use it while eating, kissing (and others), talking, displaying non-verbal behavior like smiling and grimacing. Yet sometimes we don't take good care of it and the colour of the lips turn dark and dull.
This subject just struck me as interesting this afternoon when I was out in 1u with my aunt and she was buying lipstick at clinique. My aunt and the promoter, they both have dark lips and the promoter was recommending the shade she was wearing (which I also told my aunt was nice). Then I looked in the mirror, looked at my lips, my lips are pink thank goodness.
Then I wondered, why does it turn dark? These kind of things always interest me, thats why I like watching National Geographic, Discovery Channel etc. So I went home and googled it.
Apparently, lips can turn dark from excessive drinking of tea and coffee, exposure to sun, smoking, applying heavy makeup or makeup that is not suited for your skin, using cheap lipsticks or expired ones, and even lip licking (oh gosh I do that sometimes, gotta stop!).
So to avoid dark lips, avoid doing all of the above, and on top of that to maintain beautiful lips, drink lots of water and eat plenty of fruits and vege, when u brush ur teeth at night use ur toothbrush to gently brush ur lips to get rid of dead skin cells, remove your lipstick before going to sleep, and apply vaseline on your lips regularly so that it doesn't get dry and chapped. Oh, and wear lip balm with UV protector when you are out in the sun.
I am sure as hell that I want my lips to stay nice, full and pink, after all, they say that its a symbol of sensuality and sexuality, and full lips show that a woman has more estrogen and is a biological indicator that she is healthy and fertile by the way lol. Its an evolutionary advantage =)
It also makes buying lipsticks easier as you do not need to worry if the colour will show or not. The light pinks that I use will probably not show when used on lips that are dark lol.
Hugs and (Light Pink) Kisses =)
