The Flaming Lips have been spending lots of time in the studio prepping their next release, which happens to be a double disc album freshly titled Embryonic. Given the amount of creativity put into their live shows, one would think putting together a double LP would be somewhat easy for a band of the Lips caliber. Yet Wayne Coyne, who worked in a seafood restaurant for 12 years (whilst selling pot from his apartment), compared the album to his previous line of work, "I think it must be like being a cook in the kitchen. You’re preparing this great thing, but by the time it's ready you’re sick of it because you’ve been smelling it, you’ve got it in your hair and in your fingers and all that.”

Although the album has a title, Coyne states "the songs don’t yet bear names or a running order" because they want to take Embryonic in so many directions. I can't imagine which wayward direction Wayne plans on taking their tunes this go-around - Embryonic is expected to release around the time of their ATP performance/curation.

Its great to see that the Flaming Lips are coming out with a new album especially since as the article stated, their lives performances are extremely creative and dazzling. I can't wait for this new album to come out.

Huh. I always thought I just hated Freddie Mercury singing this, but I guess it's the song itself. Even my immense love for the Flaming Lips can't make me like this.
